Notice is hereby given that the Kurland Community Hall is closed with immediate effect, due to the extent of ceiling repair work to be undertaken, the estimated time of restoration is projected to be at least 6 weeks.
The Municipality appeals to all members of the public to refrain from any activity.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Temporary Use of Blue Bags for Recycling
The Bitou Municipality is currently unable to provide yellow recycling bags. Our current supplier is unable to provide these bags used for the disposal of recyclable waste.
As an interim measure, the municipality will use blue bags for recycling until yellow bags can be supplied.
Please note that the blue bags will not replace yellow recycling bags and is only an interim measure.

MEDIA RELEASE | Bitou firefighters bring the fire at the Toughest Firefighter Alive Competition

Bitou firefighters not only won the hearts of many at the Toughest Firefighter Alive Competition at the weekend, but they also won numerous awards.
The Municipality sent a generational mix to compete at this year's TFA-SA.
This competition is based on the international Toughest Firefighter Alive Challenge, which falls under the umbrella event of the World Firefighter Games (WFG)

PUBLIC NOTICE | Delay in refuse collection in various areas
Bitou Municipality is experiencing delays in refuse collection in New Horizons while collection in Kwanokuthula has been suspended for today.
Collection in Kwanokuthula will resume tomorrow (21 September 2023).

*Illegal tavern owner arrested, expired food confiscated as Bitou Law Enforcement cracks whip on businesses around town*
Thousands of rands worth of liquor and expired food items were confiscated by Bitou Public Safety officials in collaboration with key law enforcement partners, including SAPS.
This health and safety blitz is part of a campaign of keeping residents safe.
On Friday, operations began in Witterdrift where two shops were inspected with a health inspector from Garden Route District Municipality.
Expired food items including baby food, cool drink, chips and spices were confiscated and sent to the Bitou transfer site.
