PUBLIC NOTICE | Temporary Use of Blue Bags for Recycling

The Bitou Municipality is currently unable to provide yellow recycling bags. Our current supplier is unable to provide these bags used for the disposal of recyclable waste.

 As an interim measure, the municipality will use blue bags for recycling until yellow bags can be supplied.

Please note that the blue bags will not replace yellow recycling bags and is only an interim measure.

MEDIA RELEASE | Bitou firefighters bring the fire at the Toughest Firefighter Alive Competition

Bitou firefighters not only won the hearts of many at the Toughest Firefighter Alive Competition at the weekend, but they also won numerous awards. 

The Municipality sent a generational mix to compete at this year's TFA-SA. 

This competition is based on the international Toughest Firefighter Alive Challenge, which falls under the umbrella event of the World Firefighter Games (WFG)

Thousands of rands worth of liquor and expired food items were confiscated by Bitou Public Safety officials in collaboration with key law enforcement partners, including SAPS. 

This health and safety blitz is part of a campaign of keeping residents safe. 

On Friday, operations began in Witterdrift where two shops were inspected with a health inspector from Garden Route District Municipality. 

Expired food items including baby food, cool drink, chips and spices were confiscated and sent to the Bitou transfer site.

UPDATE ON THE COLLECTION OF RECYCLABLE WASTE

The new tender specification for the collection of recyclable waste within the Bitou Municipal area is currently in process and has reached the first of three stages of bid committees to consider the award.

In order to cover the interim period, the municipality advertised a Request for Quotations (RFQ). Unfortunately, all bids received exceeded the maximum threshold as allowed by the municipality`s Supply Chain Management policy. The RFQ will now be re-advertised, and the finalisation of this process will be prioritised.

Bitou Easter Sport Tournament

The Bitou Easter Sport Tournament continued today and the Bitou Executive Mayor Dave Swart Mayor attended the Cricket Tournament in Kranshoek.

The cricketers showed great skill and abilities and once more showed that there is great sporting talent in Bitou.

Mayor Swart also went to the Kwanokuthula Sports Field to watch the Netball tournament. The players gave their best and a great spirit of sportsmanship prevailed throughout the matches.
