PUBLIC NOTICE | Public Safety Section Call for Comments - Liquor Trading By-law

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 12 (3)(b) of the Local government: Municipal Systems Act (Act No. 32 of 2000) as amended and by resolution of Council of Bitou Municipality, that Bitou Municipality has approved the draft by-law relating to the Control of Undertakings that Sell Liquor to the Public. The Council Resolution, Item number C/4/177/04/24, taken at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 30 April 2024, recommended that the public be informed and encouraged to comment on this by law:

PUBLIC NOTICE | Door to Door Survey: Bitou Revenue Enhancement Program

Council embarked on a revenue enhancement initiative to ensure that the various service charges, as set out in Council’s approved tariffs and charges schedule, are correctly levied to all categories of users in accordance with the relevant policies, by-laws, and legislation. 

The revenue enhancement initiative will see to it that all categories of properties are treated equally and fairly by ensuring that Council’s approved tariffs for the respective financial years are correctly applied.

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 29 A of Local Government: Municipal Structures  Act, No 117 of 1998 (Act 117 of 1998) that the Special  Council meeting of the Bitou Municipality is scheduled for Wednesday, 31 July 2024 at 09h00 in the Bitou Council Chambers.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Temporary closure of Bitou Beaches

Notice is hereby given to the public of the closure of all beaches on 02 August 2024 as Bitou Lifeguards and beach staff will be attending a Wildlife Safety Seminar. 

This includes all beaches manned by Bitou Lifeguards and Staff. 

The beaches will be closed from 09:00 until 13:00.

MEDIA RELEASE | Empowering Youth in the Building Industry: Western Cape Minister Participates in Certificate Ceremony

 

Earlier today, 06 August 2024, the Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Tertuis Simmers, was in Bitou to hand over certificates to the beneficiaries of a bricklaying training program. 


This program, titled "Youth in Building Environment," is a partnership initiative with CoroBrik and the Western Cape Government.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Call for Public Participation: General Valuation 2024-2029

The Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, 6 of 2004, as amended, stipulates the compilation of municipal valuation of properties and the purpose thereof to determine rates for individual properties as well as the overall rate value calculations for the city. 

The General Valuation Roll is a document containing the municipal valuations of all the registered properties within the boundaries of the Greater Bitou municipal area. It is used to calculate the rates that property owners are required to pay.
