Bitou Municipality leadership went beyond the normal 67 minutes in celebration of the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela by holding three programmes- all in the name of doing good.
Thursday, 18 July 2024, kicked off with the handover of 20 breaking new-ground houses to deserving residents at the Ebenezer
Recipients were addressed by Bitou Executive Mayor, Councillor Claude Terblanche, could not contain their excitement.

New homeowner Queene Ruiters said: "Ek voel baie bly, ek het baie lank gewag."
While 49 year old Rusty Windvogel said : “Ek is baie gelukkig oor die huis van my ,dit is net n blessing.”
Another resident: Nozuko Mpupha (42) said: “I feel grateful and I'm happy, I can't explain it, but I'm happy”.
Celebrations moved on to the farmer's information day where Bitou Municipality was in partnership with the Department of Land Reform & Rural Development, Agri Land SSK, SEDA and MSD animal health.
This event was graced by Mayor Terblanche, Deputy Mayor Councillor Nokuzola Kolwapi and Ward 6 Councillor Nokuthula Seti.
The event was held to help budding farmers with funding opportunities. There was also a presentation on parasites there will also be practical vaccinations on site.
Further, Councillor Terblanche visited the houses of the elderly and social service organisation presenting them with food and blankets.
In Kwanokuthula he visited the Mzamomhle Elderly Community Development Club.
There the Mayor delivered groceries to club as they provide support to the elderly in the area.
The club gyms, sews, knits and they also visit the other elderly residents.
They have planned a soup kitchen for residents queueing at the clinic.
Mayor Terblanche moved to New Horizons to hand out blankets.
He also delivered groceries to soup kitchens in the area.
He also visited residents in Kurland, Greenvalley, Kranshoek and Bossiesgief.
