PUBLIC NOTICE | Revenue Enhancement Program door to door survey

Council embarked on a revenue enhancement initiative to ensure that the various service charges, as set out in Council’s approved tariffs and charges schedule, are correctly levied to all categories of users in accordance with the relevant policies, by-laws, and legislation. 

The revenue enhancement initiative will see to it that all categories of properties are treated equally and fairly by ensuring that Council’s approved tariffs for the respective financial years are correctly applied. 

PUBLIC NOTICE| Library asset verification/ Stock-take in Kurland and New Horizon Library

Please note that the Kurland and New Horizon Library will be closed due to asset verification/ Stock-take on the following dates: 

  • 30 – 31 October 2023 (Kurland Library will be closed for annual stock taking)
  • 7 – 9 November 2023 (New Horizon Library will be closed for annual stock take)

 

All library materials that are due on these specified dates can be returned, however the two libraries in question won’t be issuing any new materials.

 

MEDIA RELEASE | Bitou replaces its aging fleet to bolster service delivery

Some of the service delivery challenges experienced by Bitou Municipality have been attributed to the aging vehicles within its fleet. Therefore, to address this matter, the municipality made provision for a significant overhaul of the fleet in the 2023/24 financial year. The municipality has invested R14 million in acquiring vehicles for various departments.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Extension of Beach Umbrella Sponsorship Project

Notice is hereby given that the Municipality intends to extend the sponsorship for its Beach Umbrella Project with existing sponsors from 1 December 2023 until April 2024.

MEDIA RELEASE | Bitou keeps the 'Blue' Flag flying

It was an awards bonanza for Bitou Municipality on Friday, 20 October, as Bitou raked in numerous awards at the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) Blue Flag and Green Coast awards. 

Bitou’s six beaches, namely: Robberg 5, The Waves, Nature’s Valley, Lookout Beach, The Dunes, and Singing Kettle, retained their Blue Flag status.

Businesses are flocking to Plettenberg Bay thanks to the opening of the newly built Boxer Kwanokuthula Crossing Centre. 

The latest to open at the Centre is a mini-Nedbank branch inside the Boxer store, allowing customers to perform everything they would do in a normal-sized branch. 

The partnership between Boxer and Nedbank in the community could see consumers saving time and money. 

MEDIA RELEASE | Wild Waters Plettenberg Bay closure

Bitou Municipality is aware of the recent social media posts regarding the closure of Wild Waters Plettenberg Bay and would like to correct some mistruths made in the public domain.

The decision to close the facility was not a decision of Bitou Municipality but that of the tenant who has declined an 11-month lease offered by Bitou stating that it would not be financially viable for them to continue to operate the water park.

Bitou Municipality's Public Safety Section under the Community Services Department has received two new vehicles to boost its operations.

These vehicles are part of Bitou Municipality's efforts to improve its fleet in order to further enhance service delivery to its citizens.

The poor state of our law enforcement vehicles was raised on various public platforms.
