The Rugby World Cup Final is upon us, and as Bitou Municipality and South Africa, we are fully behind the Springbok team in their endeavour to become champions for the fourth time.
Once again South Africans united behind the "Boks” in a World Cup final, bringing back memories of 1995 when former President Nelson Mandela and the entire nation rallied behind the team led by Francios Pienaar to spur it on to a memorable first World Cup Final triumph.
The possibility of the Springbok team winning the 2023 World Cup and becoming only the second back-to-back world champions makes this a spectacle not to be missed. That this final is against South Africa’s perennial rivals, the All Blacks, makes this even more exciting.
This prompted the municipality to pursue the option of setting up viewing sites in the community halls within the different wards.
Thanks is also due to the Western Cape Department of Sport, who played a role in making this possible.
Viewing sites have been set up at the following venues:
Kurland Community Hall
Wittedrift/Green Valley Community Hall
Bossiesgif/Qolweni Bicycle Shed
New Horizon Community Hall
Kranshoek Community Hall.
Kwanokuthula Primary School
The viewing sites will open at 8:30pm and will close immediately after the game.
Law enforcement will be deployed to each viewing site for security purposes.
Residents should make use of this opportunity to watch the final live with other supporters.
Let us all join together to cheer the Boks to another memorable victory over the All Blacks and, in doing so, lift the World Cup for a record fourth time!
GO BOKKE!!!
