Bitou firefighters not only won the hearts of many at the Toughest Firefighter Alive Competition at the weekend, but they also won numerous awards.

The Municipality sent a generational mix to compete at this year's TFA-SA.

This competition is based on the international Toughest Firefighter Alive Challenge, which falls under the umbrella event of the World Firefighter Games (WFG)

This year, more than 240 participants from different fire service institutions around South Africa demonstrated their fitness levels and skills.

Last year was one of the biggest of its kind, with 170 firefighters participating.

Bitou Municipality is proud of the following firefighters:

1. Nomawonga Grootboom who won gold in her age category.

2. Aliyaah Arnolds and Dazell Jacobs for winning bronze medals in their respective age categories.

3. Nico Krigga also won a bronze medal in his age category.

To top it all, Nomawonga Grootboom won an award for being the best newcomer.

We are pleased with the excellent showing by Team Bitou during the TFA, to us they are all winners.
