It was further resolved that the powers of Council except those set out in Section 160 (2) of the Constitution be handed to the Executive Mayor for the period that Council is in recess.

The new tender specification for the collection of recyclable waste within the Bitou Municipal area is currently in process and has reached the first of three stages of bid committees to consider the award.

In order to cover the interim period, the municipality advertised a Request for Quotations (RFQ). Unfortunately, all bids received exceeded the maximum threshold as allowed by the municipality`s Supply Chain Management policy. The RFQ will now be re-advertised, and the finalisation of this process will be prioritised.
