MEDIA RELEASE | South African Civil Aviation Authority Issues Category 2 licence in the name of the Garden Route Aero

Bitou Municipality is pleased to announce that the South African Civil Aviation Authority has issued a Category 2 airport license to Garden Route Aero, the entity contracted to manage Plettenberg Bay Airport. This is good news for Plettenberg Bay Airport as the license allows General Aviation Activity (GAA) to resume immediately.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Door to Door Survey: Bitou Revenue Enhancement Program

Council embarked on a revenue enhancement initiative to ensure that the various service charges, as set out in Council’s approved tariffs and charges schedule, are correctly levied to all categories of users in accordance with the relevant policies, by-laws, and legislation. 

The revenue enhancement initiative will see to it that all categories of properties are treated equally and fairly by ensuring that Council’s approved tariffs for the respective financial years are correctly applied.

Notice: Is hereby given in terms of Section 28(3) of the Municipal Systems Act (Act No. 32 of 2000) prescribes that the Municipality must inform communities about the particulars of the process it intends to follow in drafting the Integrated Development Plan. 

On Friday 30/08/2024 Council adopted the 2024/2025 IDP Process Plan and Budget Time Schedule. The council resolution give effect to sections 28, 34 of the Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2002 and section 21 (b) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003.

Organizations and bodies that qualify for financial assistance in terms of the criteria and prescriptions contained in Bitou Municipality’s Grant-in-Aid Policy and Section 67 of the Municipal Financial Management Act 2003 are hereby invited to submit proposals for programs they endeavour to undertake during the calendar year 2024. Organizations that previously applied must reapply.

Only applications submitted on the prescribed application form and accompanied by all the required information, documentation, financial statements, covering letter, etc., will be considered.

The Bitou Municipality proudly handed over 41 title deeds to the beneficiaries of the 169 Housing Project in Qolweni. The event was attended by Bitou Executive Mayor, Cllr Jessica Kamkam, Deputy Executive Mayor, Cllr Nokuzola Kolwapi, Speaker, Cllr Mavis Busakwe, and Ward 3 Councillor, Cllr Thembela Mhlana.
