UPGRADE OF RESTRICTIONS ON THE USE OF WATER
BITOU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
The Level one (Moderate) drought restrictions currently implemented will be upgraded to Level Two with effect from 3 April 2023, in line with Bitou Municipality’s Drought Management Policy to manage and prevent the increased risk in the possibility of water shortages. This intervention is triggered mainly due to the level of the Roodefontein dam dropping to below 66% and below average rainfall experienced and expected in the region.

HOW A YOUNG PERSON TOOK THE INITIATIVE THAT HELPED IN CLEANING OF THE CEMETERY IN TOWN
I received an inspiring email on 13 March 2023 from Mr. Henrique Strydom, a grade 11 scholar at Wittedrift High School. He expressed his concerns about the poor condition of the cemetery in Park Lane. This is a cemetery where generations of Plett residents have been laid to rest.
Very interestingly, he did not only complain about the condition, but saw it as a project that he wanted to pursue as part of the 20 hours of community service that he has to do for Mr. and Miss Wittedrift High School.

Executive Mayors Speech at the Opening of the Easter Tournament on 27 April 2023
Molweni, Good morning, Goeie more
Sports have always been regarded as a means of unifying all South Africans. We first saw how unifying sports can be in 1995 with the Rugby World Cup in South Africa, when Madiba walked out on the field in the Number 6 jersey of the Springbok Captain, François Pienaar.
The crowd at the stadium and most of the South Africans watching at other venues went wild as one nation.
It is fitting that what is usually the Bitou Easter Games is starting two weeks later than usual, today on Freedom Day.
