NOTICE OF THE ORDINARY COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, 31 OCTOBER 2024, AT 09H00 IN THE BITOU MUNICIPALITY’S COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT 04 SEWELL STREET (WC047)

In accordance with Section 29A of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, No. 117 of 1998, it is hereby announced that an ordinary Council meeting for the Bitou Municipality will take place on Thursday, 31 October 2024, at 09:00 in the Bitou Council Chambers.

The township tourism strategy is vital for Plettenberg Bay, to enhance Bitou economy, linking communities to tourism activities, establishment of township tourism routes, etc. Therefore, Bitou Municipality is embarking on a public participation process to solicit information that will inform the township tourism strategy. In terms of Council Resolution C/1/260/10/24, applications are hereby invited for persons with suitable skills and qualifications to serve as members of the Bitou Municipality's audit committee in terms of Section 166 of the Municipal Finance Management Act (No. 56 of 2003).  This committee will also serve as the Performance Management Committee and other functions might be allocated to the committee.

IN NEWS | Bitou Municipality EPWP and CWP Attend Better Parenting Skills Program Hosted by Masizame Children Shelter

Bitou Municipality's Expanded Public Works Program (EPWP) and Community Work Program (CWP) participants recently attended the Better Parenting Skills program facilitated by Masizame Children Shelter. This initiative, tailored for parents within the community, aims to provide tools and strategies for fostering positive child-rearing practices.
The Better Parenting program is designed to achieve the following objectives:

•            Enhance caregivers' attitudes and behaviors towards children, while boosting their confidence in their parenting abilities

Council embarked on a revenue enhancement initiative to ensure that the various service charges, as set out in Council’s approved tariffs and charges schedule, are correctly levied to all categories of users in accordance with the relevant policies, by-laws, and legislation. 

The revenue enhancement initiative will see to it that all categories of properties are treated equally and fairly by ensuring that Council’s approved tariffs for the respective financial years are correctly applied.
