Informed by the recent ward walkabouts- Bitou Municipality has taken the bold step of hiring 240 expanded public works programme workers.

The 240 workers will be spread across service delivery departments for the next two months in order to boost productivity and the service delivery offering by the municipality. 

Bitou Law Enforcement confiscated dangerous weapons, marijuana, e-smokers, and cell phones at a random search at Plett Secondary School today, 11 April 2024. 

The search was part of the Safer Schools Program which also assists pupils with crossing busy intersections, and general safekeeping. 

This program aims to reduce violence at schools.

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 29 A of Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, No 117 of 1998 (Act 117 of 1998) that the Special Council meeting of the Bitou Municipality is scheduled for Friday, 12 April 2024 at 08h00 in the Bitou Council Chambers.

The Garden Route District Municipality invites unemployed persons currently residing within the Garden Route District Municipal area, to apply for an opportunity to be placed at a Tourism and/or Hospitality Organization for an 18 month work experience opportunity as part of a Garden Route Skills Mecca Initiative. Preference will be given to persons with disabilities. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35. Opportunities are currently available within the following municipal areas within Garden Route District.

The neighbours of the newly handed-over Ebeneezer Houses hugged, laughed, and posed for pictures with one another while accepting their houses. 

The houses were handed over by Bitou Executive Mayor, Councillor Claude Terblanche, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Nokuzola Kolwapi. 

Council embarked on a revenue enhancement initiative to ensure that the various service charges, as set out in Council’s approved tariffs and charges schedule, are correctly levied to all categories of users in accordance with the relevant policies, by-laws, and legislation.

The revenue enhancement initiative will see to it that all categories of properties are treated equally and fairly by ensuring that Council’s approved tariffs for the respective financial years are correctly applied.
