Thesen Island 

One opportunity exists for an operator to run a Tour Guiding opportunity on the Knysna Estuary within the Garden Route National Park. The opportunity is from April 2026 – March 2028. 

Scope of Tour guide offerings: 

- Guided walks along the Knysna estuary 

- The conduction of Environmental Education presentations 

- Vessel Tours 

Interested operators should apply and include the following in their submission: 

• Relevant Business profile / Business Plan 

• Full description of services to be rendered 

• Police clearance 

• 3 contactable references 

Requirements: 

- Matric / Grade 12 certificate - Be a local SMME residing within 50km radius from SANParks 

-Knysna Section boundary 

- Be a registered Tour Guide, Badge and ID Card as per Tourism Act, no. 3 of 2014. Proof to be provided in submission 

- Have a registered business and three years minimum experience as a tour guide 

- Registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) will be an added advantage 

- Be a South African citizen from underprivileged background, women and people living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
