To mark the commencement of Arbor Month, Bitou Municipality in collaboration with Beacon Island Hotel initiated a tree-planting event at Kranshoek Primary and Plett Primary Schools yesterday, 3 September.

The event was graced by the presence of key figures including the Bitou Executive Mayor Cllr Jessica Kamkam, Bitou Deputy Executive Mayor Cllr Nokuzola Kolwapi, Bitou Council Speaker Cllr Mavis Busakwe and other distinguished guests such as Chris Ferreira and Louise Otto, the new General Manager of Beacon Island Hotel.

This tree-planting initiative symbolizes the collective commitment to environmental sustainability and education, encouraging the young generation to take an active role in preserving our natural resources.

The event was about planting trees and planting the seeds of environmental consciousness in our community.

The partnership between Bitou Municipality and Beacon Island Hotel exemplifies the positive impact collaboration between local government and the private sector can have on community development and environmental stewardship.

This event is the first of many planned activities throughout Arbor Month, as we continue to engage with the community and promote the importance of preserving our natural environment for future generations.
