Bitou Municipality is thrilled to announce a momentous occasion in our community's history as we proudly handed over long-awaited title deeds to deserving recipients who have patiently awaited this crucial milestone.
The heartfelt ceremony was held at the Kranshoek Community Hall for residents who have tirelessly waited for the recognition of their property ownership rights.
This significant event not only marks a triumph for the recipients but is also part of the Municipality's accelerated programme to deal with the title deed backlog.
By 2026 the Bitou hopes to hand over 5000 title deeds to property owners.
Bitou Executive Mayor, Cllr Dave Swart, who was joined by Ward 7 Councillor, Annelise Olivier, says the handover of the title deeds is a programme that always excites him.
“Today was extra special as we held our first formal handover in Kranshoek as previously the title deeds were handed over at the housing offices.”
“I am glad that we’ve made their dreams come true,” Cllr Swart added.
Councillor Olivier agreed saying that the handover was extremely exciting.
One 0recipient, Gordon Brouwers, said today was a bittersweet moment for him as he received the title deed on behalf of his mother who had passed on 8 years ago.
He said: “I would have loved for her to take the picture with the mayor and the ward councillor, but I am happy that I finally got the title deed.”
Meanwhile, another resident Mona Snyman thanked the municipality for ensuring that they got what belonged to them.
