Overview
Public Libraries manages the key performance areas and result indicators associated with the provision of effective library services and monitors the execution of procedural sequences/requirements associated with aligning standards to meet customer objectives, attending to the acquisition, organization of information and interacting and providing users with information from various media, creating an environment conducive to learning through the arrangement of displays and signage of new library materials and attending to administrative reporting and record updating requirements.
Vision/ Mission
- To provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching and learning needs of Bitou communities.
- Build collections and create tools to support research, teaching and learning.
- Provide access to and promote the retrieval and use of local and external information resources.
- Develop, encourage and sustain expertise, skills, commitment and innovative spirit of staff.
Key Performance Areas
- That a selective collection of materials reflects the reading, information and recreational needs of communities, provided within accepted National and Provincial public libraries norms and standards as prioritized in the Municipal and Provincial Service level agreement.
- Provide sufficient and effective library and information services to communities served.
- Provide resources to help communities improve in enrichment/developing their lives and of their communities.
- Identify information needs and improve education, skills and knowledge of users.
