Bitou is proud of the elderly who represented the Municipality at the District Golden Games at the weekend.

Since the Golden Games were introduced and initiated in 2019 the Municipality has hosted the games in conjunction with the Department of Sports Arts and Culture for the local elderly people.

These games bring the Older Persons & Disability fraternities together and incorporate the awareness around leading a healthy and sporty lifestyle within our communities.

At the District Active Ageing program held on the 27th of October in Riversdale 35 elderly people from Bitou participated in various games.

This year, the group were up as early as 4 a.m. accompanied by Social Development Coordinator, Stephzell Chrisstey Willemse, to participate in games such as passing the ball, Jukskei, Duck walk and dress up.

Forum chairperson Maria Pienaar expressed her sincere gratitude to all the elderly of Bitou for participating.
