The Environmental Monitors from Bitou Municipality together with the Youth Community Outreach Programme from the Department of Fisheries and Forestry celebrated on the 2nd of February 2021, World Wetland's Day by cleaning a water borough next to the Kwanokuthula Stadium.

The purpose of the day is to celebrate the importance of wetlands globally.

Importance of wetlands:

• Purifies water
• Provide habitat for different species
• Provide education opportunity
• Provides for recreational activities
