QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: ● Relevant tertiary qualification in a Built environment discipline (e.g. Architecture, Civil Engineering and Quantity Surveying) ● 2-5 years relevant experience required.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: ● Computer skills (MS office applications) ● Driving License ●Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (read, write and speak) ● Sound interpretational skills ● Good human relations, interpersonal and communication skills ● Ability to give attention to detail ● High level of responsibility ● Ability to work under pressure● Knowledge of SANS 10400, bylaws and National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act 103 of 1977 as amended. ● Office bound specialist Building Plan examiner.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: To uphold the Building Regulations and applicable by-laws, policies and guidelines in the approval of building plans ● Responsible for building plan examination of new buildings, additions and renovations in terms of relevant legislation● Provides professional and technical support services to the customer and Division ● Prepares, presents investigational and qualitative reports● Ensure and maintain an effective communications channel and promote sound relationships internally and externally in terms of contraventions of statutory requirements with relevant role players/stakeholders●Coordinate and control procedural administrative requirements, BPAMS, record keeping and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality●Keeps abreast of developments, legislative changes, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession
