Bitou Municipality’s Waste Management division, together with the Local Libraries throughout the Bitou Area are pleased to report back on the positive outcome of the Recycling Competition held during the school holidays from the 5 – 9 October 2015.
We had a very positive response from the various Bitou communities, with a total number of 200 entrants who took part in the word search.
Most of the hidden words were based on Recycling and the others, related to the Waste Sector.
Two winners were announced at each Library in the two respective categories, Grade 7 and Grade 3. These individuals are now automatically entered into the “Grand/Final Competition” where they will compete with their neighboring libraries winners for a grand prize. (Competition arrangements are still in progress).
The final competition will consist of a Recycling video that will be played. Contestants will then be asked a range of questions based on the video, and the ultimate winner will be the one with the most correct answers. The winning prize is a sponsored Tablet cellular device.
We as a Bitou Municipality identified the importance of recycling, and the change it willmake. Therefore we have shifted our target-market to the younger generation. The interactions we had with them thus far has shown that they grasp the content as a speedy rate and they have a positive outlook on making a change.
In the near future we will be targeting different age groups and proceed with creating this important awareness.
We thank each and every individual for taking part in this important competition, we will be issuing each individual with a certificate of completion.
To all the librarians in the different Libraries in Plettenberg Bay, Thank You for your support in the proceedings and timeframes of this competition, it is highly appreciated!
We will keep everyone in the loop with the proceedings of the next competition.
