QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: An appropriate B Degree in Communication/Public Relations or Equivalent NQF7 ● Relevant 3 years’ experience at a Local Government environment
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: ● Valid Code B Drivers’ License ● Computer literacy (MS Office applications) Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape (read, write and speak) Good management, human relations, interpersonal and communication skills● Analytical skills. ● High level of responsibility ● Ability to give attention to detail ●Good understanding of risk and performance management ● Excellent presentation and project management skills● Work after normal working hours, during emergencies and planned overtime
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: ●Plan, develop and implement the Communication Strategy of the Municipality ●Analyse communications environment to identify marketing and branding opportunities ●Render comprehensive communication service to promote and build sound relationships between the municipality and all stakeholders ● Aligns with municipal transformational, change, service delivery goals and strategies ● Coordinate, scrutinize and arrange media statements, briefings and conferences ● Manage, monitor and control the budget of the Branch ● Manage and arrange corporate events*Advance corporate communications and marketing ● Maintain Inter-governmental relations and organizational protocol ● Manage, implement and maintain customer care procedures, centralized complaints service and call centre operations (Complaints Management System) ● Adhere to Supply Chain Management policies ● Render management and line function administrative support services to the Branch ● Keep abreast of current developments, legislative changes, emerging trends and latest technologies in the profession.
