QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:
●Grade 10 Qualification; ● Competency Certificate in plumbing (NQF 4);
● Able to work with water related fittings and material; ● Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a waterworks
(reticulation) environment; ●Must speak at least two of the three official languages in the Western Cape; ● Minimum of 2
years relevant in a waterworks (reticulation) environment; ● Valid unendorsed code EB or EC1 license with a valid PDP.
REQUIREMENTS:
● Physically fit and abled bodied in order to perform manual tasks; ●Must be able to withstand high
levels of stress when dealing with irritated consumers or difficult members of staff; ●Must have good hearing capabilities
to detect leaks by sound ● Required to work in all weather conditions; ● Required to work outside normal working hours
(emergencies and planned overtime); ● Required to be on standby; ● Must be able to function without sleep for long
periods continuously in emergency situations.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assist the senior Waster Serviceman in maintaining a constant supply of
water to industrial and domestic consumers in the greater Plettenberg Bay urban and rural areas; ● Constant Maintenance
of water reticulation and metering systems; ● Installs industrial and domestic connections onto supply main and installing
water meter on the property boundary to supply water to the consumer; ● Performs pressure tests and sterilizes mains by
using pressure testing equipment and chlorine to satisfy the Scientific Officer’s requirements so that the prescribed water
quality and pressure is attained; ● Investigates and rectifies faults received from Finance department by uncovering and
replacing faulty meters so that Finance can correctly charge consumers; ● Perform administrative functions such as the
completion of timesheets; diarize all work done by keeping exact information of work done and addresses visited so as to
update records of plans for future references;
