Distribution Division

Overview

Waste Water Reticulation

This division is responsible for:

  • The management of sewer reticulation and connections,
  • Emergency and preventative maintenance of the sewerage reticulation system,
  • Technical support for development.

The Bitou Municipality has about 320 km of waterborne sewer pipe systems, varying from 90mm to 350mm in diameter. Thirty-five sewerage pump stations pump the effluent to the main sewerage works. The Urban sewerage system consists of septic tanks, French drains and Conservancy tanks.

Water Distribution

This division deals with:

  • The management of bulk supply pipelines,
  • Emergency and preventative maintenance of the water reticulation system,
  • Provision of water meter connections,
  • Technical support for development.

The Bitou water reticulation system has 274km pipe systems, varying from 50mm to 500mm in diameter. Thirty (30) water reservoirs supply 24-hour storage capacity to the Bitou municipality.

The water supply of urban areas are rain water tanks and underground water (Bore Holes).
