Bitou Municipality’s Public Safety Manager; Mr Andile Sakati had his successful Annual Chief Inspection on Friday 18 November 2016. The Public Safety division encompasses of Fire Services, Traffic Services, Municipal Law Enforcement and Disaster management.
The purpose of the Chief Inspection is to determine the capacity, condition and readiness of the said divisions to fulfil its primary mandate, which is to ensure a secured environment for Bitou residents and all visitors/tourists to our coastal town.
The objective of the day is to promote a safe working environment by conducting a vigorous assessment on personal protective equipment needed by the officials to duly perform their daily duties.
As with previous years, the highlight of the Chief Inspection once again was the Drill Command, performed by the squadron of dedicated men and women who did this with precision and strict discipline.
The Executive Mayor Cllr Peter Lobese, Ward Councillor Wayne Craig, Acting Municipal Manager David Friedman and Community Services Department Head Mr. Monde Stratu were present and applauded the sense of professionalism and dedication these officials had showcased during the inspection.
